The Project Delivery Path (not just talk)

After all the excitement created through the Leadership Convention, there are going to be a lot of people out there with high expectations. And not only them. Especially in smaller communities news of the Local Partnership is going to get around and people are going to be watching and hoping.

For this reason, plus the long-term success of the venture, it is vital for the community to see some positive physical results as soon as possible. And this is where the Steering Committee can be of great assistance.

Right from the early planning stage the Steering Committee should have identified, evaluated and ranked possible projects within the community. Amongst these there must be one or two easy-to-mount, fast-start, projects that can be started immediately after the formation of the Local Partnership Board.

Your town's unique circumstances will be your guide, but some project option could include:

  • Eco-Tourism - Crafts Market

  • Safety and Security - Crime Busting

  • Social Development - Street Children

  • Economic Development - Buy Local Campaign

  • EWET's "Youth Enterprise Society" Programme*

* Relatively uncomplicated to start, the "YES" Programme works through local high schools (grades 9 to 11) as an extra mural project designed to teach tomorrow's young adults the skills of entrepreneurship and the experience of creating their own jobs.
Each "YES Society" consists of 45 students, with 15 coming from each grade. Responsive to a very real need in most communities, the "YES" Programme has a proven track record of over 5 years. For detailed information contact EWET - ewet@ewet.co.za.
